Ex-Australia Post boss Ahmed Fahour is selling a large Hawthorn penthouse likened to “a house in the sky”.
Mr Fahour — now managing director and chief executive of Latitude Financial Services — has $5-$5.5 million price hopes for the four-bedroom pad at 603/862 Glenferrie Rd.
It’s also on the rental market, asking $3500 per week.
The apartment offers a substantial 471sq m of space, internally and across two terraces with desirable north- and west-facing orientations.
“It’s essentially a whole-floor penthouse, which is rare for Hawthorn,” Kay & Burton South Yarra agent Sam Wilkinson said.
“It’s virtually a house in the sky.”
Mr Fahour owns two other Hawthorn properties: landmark manor Invergowrie on Coppin Grove, which he bought for $22 million in 2013 and attempted to sell for $40-$44 million in 2018, and a Kinkora Rd mansion he paid $16.25 million for in 2018.
The sixth-floor Glenferrie Rd penthouse last sold for $4.7 million in 2017, according to CoreLogic.
Mr Wilkinson said he was not aware what Mr Fahour had used the property for.
The businessman split from his former wife Dionnie in 2018.
The penthouse’s four bedrooms each have their own ensuites. The main, which is being marketed as “evok(ing) a luxurious day spa experience”, also opens out to a private balcony.
In addition to an open-plan family, dining and kitchen area boasting city views, the home also features a sitting room, gym and study.
The kitchen is finished in Armani Grigio marble, and has Miele appliances and a butler’s pantry.
Mr Wilkinson said four basement car parks completed the luxe package, which was built in 2014 in a “prime section of Glenferrie Rd” with access to trams and top schools.
“It can comfortably accommodate a family,” he said.
“It’s mainly been (looked at by) families from neighbouring suburbs — around Hawthorn, Canterbury, Toorak and Malvern — who are coming off considerable family homes and seeking to downsize on the amount of land but upsize on lifestyle.”
The agent is also seeking expressions of interest for another Glenferrie Rd penthouse at No. 409/625 in the near-new Hawthorn Club complex, offering three bedrooms, two living areas, three car spaces and prime position across the road from popular Italian restaurant Santoni.
