Australians searching for the ultimate self-isolation haven have turned to a Southern Highlands retreat with an infinity pool, tennis court, horse dressage facilities and a gym.
The 2.02ha landholding in Bowral was the most viewed listing in Australia this past week on realestate.com.au, as city slickers spent countless hours compiling property wishlists.
The stunning property was well ahead of its next closest competitor from NSW, a Byron Bay oasis that was last week’s most viewed property.
Di Jones — Southern Highlands’ Lisa-Marie Cauchois who is selling the insane home via private treaty said it was hardly surprising for it to be the most viewed home in Australia and NSW.
“This property is very aspirational and many people right now are fantasising of being stuck in a stunning place like this,” she said.
“The owner keeps telling me how lucky they are to be self-isolating at a property like this with everything it offers.”
While Ms Cauchois was tight lipped on the price guide, valuers believe the property could be one of the most expensive homes to sell in Bowral based off an estimated value of nearly $6 million.
With sweeping district views across Bowral and set across three levels, the five-bedroom home offers complete privacy and resort facilities.
It features enchanting gardens with rolling green lawns, equine infrastructure such as stables and dressage facilities, as well as a state-of-the-art gym, which is handy given public gyms are closed due to coronavirus.
The floorplan has been designed to have a separation of spaces, with the bedrooms on one level and living on another. The ground floor is set aside for a garage with a Tesla charger, gym, a workshop and a guest studio.
The kitchen has bespoke cabinetry and also features a concealed walk in pantry, wine rack and an island bench.
Other features include Jarrah flooring, wool carpet, high ceilings and a mixture of formal and informal living spaces.
Across the 2.02ha, there is also an American-style barn with a kitchenette, loft and a chicken coop. The tennis court has flood lighting and a cabana, while the infinity pool area has a gas fire and another cabana with high ceilings.
The current owners purchased the property in 2016 for $2.6 million and conducted a major renovation and restoration of the compound during their time.
“They have done everything imaginable and spared no expense to create the ultimate property,” Ms Cauchois said.
The majority of interest so far has come from cashed up Sydney buyers looking for a second home outside of the city.
“They’re not after a weekender, but a lifestyle property that they can spend considerable time in,” Ms Cauchois said.
The second most viewed property in NSW was a stunning 840sqm coastal retreat in Byron Bay that was Australia’s most-viewed property last week. It has a $2 million-$2.2 million guide and offers beach vibe interiors and four bedrooms in a private location.
The third most viewed in the state was an Illawarra home at 143 Belinda St, Gerringong. Sitting on 2023sqm near the city centre, it has plenty of bedrooms and is within walking distance of the famed Seven Mile Beach.
